What is the Agile Approach to insights?
It is a style of collaborating with the business and the team, where the focus is on delivering a minimum viable analytics solution to the users, in a rapid, iterative fashion. The emphasis is on achieving the end goal through 4 phases (4Ds): Define, Design, Develop & Deploy. This approach can be applied to many different Business Intelligence projects - from building dashboards & reports, through building data warehouse, data migration or building ETL process
The initial stage of the engagement should focus on defining the end goal. Key tasks are to gather business user requirements, questions, metrics and data landscape. Minimum viable product is scoped. Initial data discovery is being performed.
The 'mock-up' of the future solution is designed. The key tasks and steps may include the design of the dashboards with the data requests, the structure for the forecasting model or the architecture of the ETL process.
The solution is being developed. This step may include building dashboards, developing ETL process, writing code, statistical analysis of the findings or writing a report for the business users. Similar to previous steps, the process is iterative and underpinned by user input
The version of the solution is presented to the users. This step usually includes user adoption testing, pilot, presenting the findings, gathering feedback for the future changes and user training. Further tasks may include the roll out to broader business or training product champions
